Trac-vac

Pros: Trac Vac is by far the best product that we reviewed on the market. Starting with their wide range of Lawn Vacs to fit any mower or application. Also they are the only one on the market to still have many welded parts, vs stamped, this greatly increases longevity. Many of the customers that we talked to had the unit for over 30 years. Trac Vac also is the only company to have a Custom Chute this is in our option a necessity. We found that many customers of the other brands did switch to the Trac Vac Custom Chute to use on their vac. Not only are the Chute Custom but they are also welded steel. The custom part is very important, it equals better suction- imagine having a hole in your vacuum hose, it will not suck well. Same with leaf Vacs if the chute is not custom it will not suck right. As far as we could tell they also are the only company to have a balanced turbine, which is a big deal, this greatly decreases the chance of the shaft the the engine breaking and also taking the bearings out in the engine. We also have heard that they will be soon offering the Champ Mfg. engine, which is something we are hoping the other companies will follow suit. Very high quality materials used throughout the machine. Trac Vac has the best suction and longevity on the market. We feel that Trac Vac blow away it’s competition.

Negatives: Not the best looking unit on the market. Over the years customer service has not been the best, but we have seen a great improvement over the last couple of years, and found out that it is one of the things the new owners are working on. They currently have a very helpful customer service, just seems as if they can not keep up. Also when since more things are custom it can on some occasions increase the lead time.

Peco

The product offers an incredibly attractive exterior. With the second best quality rating, We found the durability factor is lacking, but much better than most of the others. Peco also offers a wide range of products close to product range of Trac Vac’s. We liked the feature of converting to a trailer, but it seems that most customers thought they would use it, but ended up not really using that feature. Overall performance was much better than the lower end units. Peco is a very good choice on the market.

Agri-Fab

Just like many other products on the market, it seems like many companies go toward building a product to keep it cheaply priced. This equals sales, it does not equal the product will last long or perform well. This is a price line unit. Performance is lacking, Quality is lacking.

Cyclone Rake

We found this to be a good looking product. Stores well, but kind of a pain to breakdown to store. But most of the other companies now have a folding unit, DR has had one out for a few years now. I know Trac Vac has one that we tested that will be released Fall of 2020. Cyclone’s cloth design to the plastic parts used in its manufacturing process, equals increases parts sales and repairs that are needed throughout the product’s lifespan. We always find it interested how companies can market plastic as durable. If marketed correctly people will follow. There are great places to use plastic, just not for a turbine, or Chute.

DR Premier

We found this to be a good looking product as well. Offering both folding and trailer style vacs it helps being able to find the right unit for the job. But they have the same problem as Cyclone with cloth design to the plastic parts used in its manufacturing process, equals increases parts sales and repairs that are needed throughout the product’s lifespan.

Briggs Engines

Offering residential and commercial units with medium grade construction.

Overall, the product line is good, but need some improvements if they are to have a long life span.

Wei Bang

Very rugged look but we found the steel is a very low grade. Welding does not match the USA Standards. The high price does not add up to the quality of materials used in the machine. Most are very heavy units, making them a lot of work to haul them around. Customer service does not know the products compared to the competition.
